Seven Coloured Earth entrance fee and what it covers
The Seven Coloured Earth entrance fee is Rs 800 for a non-resident adult and Rs 400 for a child aged 5 to 11, Rs 400 and Rs 200 for Mauritian residents and free under 5, and it covers the coloured earth, both Chamarel Waterfall viewpoints and the tortoise park (checked on 29 October 2026). There is no separate Chamarel Waterfall entrance fee, because both viewpoints are inside the Chamarel 7 Coloured Earth Geopark, and the same ticket also includes the endemic garden and time at the Viewpoint Café and Dunes Boutique.
The ticket does not cover the guided hike to the foot of the waterfall, which guiding companies sell separately because the geopark prohibits going down alone, nor the coffee tour, Ebony Forest, the Lavilleon adventure park, which publishes no current price, or Curious Mauritius opposite the entrance. Entry is charged per person, not per car. Tickets are sold at the main entrance, at a drive-through booth and online, and each is valid for one entry on the date shown, with no transfers or refunds.
Other figures circulate, including Rs 650 for adults in 2026, so rely on the geopark’s own price list.

- Lunch at L’Alchimiste, the Rhumerie de Chamarel’s restaurant, is served Monday to Saturday from 11:30 to 15:30, and its price includes the standard visit and tasting, and the distillery asks visitors to confirm they are 18 or over (checked on 29 October 2026).

See Curious Mauritius tickets on AndeorThe free viewpoints and the national park
The Chamarel viewpoint, the Black River Gorges viewpoint, the Alexandra Falls viewpoint and the trails of the Black River Gorges National Park are all free, with no ticket or booking. The Chamarel viewpoint is a roadside lookout over Le Morne Brabant and the lagoon on the road up from Case Noyale, with no parking bays, so cars stop along the road. The Black River Gorges viewpoint on the Plaine Champagne road has a large free car park, a gentle path of about 200 m, free toilets and refreshment stalls, and macaques that raid bags.
The Black River Gorges National Park publishes no official opening hours. The hours in circulation between 2024 and 2026 are 07:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and 09:00 to 17:00 at weekends, or 06:00 to 18:00 daily, and the barriers close on the hour and can lock cars in, so plan to be out by 17:00. Trail maps cost between Rs 5 and a few dozen rupees at the visitor centres, and the “trail fees” of more than Rs 1,000 seen online are private guiding rates, not park charges.
How to pay, and who gets resident rates
The Chamarel 7 Coloured Earth Geopark takes Mauritian rupees only, in cash, by card or through a Mauritian mobile wallet, and its lower resident rates are for Mauritian citizens and residents who show an ID card or residence permit (checked on 29 October 2026). Cards are accepted except Diners Club, the wallets are Juice by MCB, Pop and Blink, and foreign cash and split payments are refused. No cash machine is mapped in Chamarel village itself, and the nearest are on the coast at Case Noyale and La Gaulette, in Baie du Cap and in Black River, so bring rupees up the hill.
Residents must show that ID card or permit at the geopark gate, even after buying online. Residents pay Rs 400 instead of Rs 800 at the geopark, Rs 400 instead of Rs 600 for Ebony Forest’s Take A Hike and Rs 400 instead of Rs 550 at VALLÉ, while the Rhumerie de Chamarel publishes one price for everyone (checked on 29 October 2026). Children’s age bands differ by site, from 5 to 11 at the geopark to 5 to 17 at Ebony Forest and 6 to 11 at VALLÉ.
